GOG has 3 versions. The one you want is the 1998 remake — the other two have the very old DOS graphics in missions, which is incredibly lo-res and hard to see.

Here’s a guide I used: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2124923198

Designate default controller

XWA_DDRAW_d3d11 – Enables Hardware acceleration on new computers:
https://github.com/rdoeffinger/xwa_ddraw_d3d11/releases

This makes framerate worse in the “regular” screens but I guess worth it for the flight improvements.

Open ddraw.cfg and change these values:

  • EnableMultisamplingAntialiasing = 1
  • ScalingType = 3

Justagai’s X-Wing series 60 FPS – enables 60 FPS:

This makes everything super smooth, but appears to cause bugs with capital ship movement and firing:

  • B-wing historical mission 1. Enemy CRVs don’t fire. Friendly CRV doesn’t enter hyperspace in time and mission fails.

TIE Fighter Reconstructed – DOS-CD music rearranged for Win95 version:

Only for TIE Fighter?

X-wing & TIE Music Fix – enables music in missions again:

Doesn’t seem to be needed? Maybe they patched this issue out.

Hmm, nope. Music plays fine but drops out on Mission Complete instead of SW theme.
